I'm looking for pictures of my father who was a pilot ( OS2U Float Plane )and served on the USS Vincennes CL64 during WW2
I know there was a ship photographer on the USS Vincennes CL64
be cause saw pictures of my father in the cockpit of his plane
taken just befor he was catapolted off ( B&W 8 x 10 ) when I was little.
The photo is long gone along with another of him after he was
plucked from the see after his plane sank after landing in the ocean
when he returned to the ship.
Please let me know if you have any ideas on how I can access the ships arcives of photos.
Sincerely
Tim

My grandfather, William E. Hurst, was a bugler in the Spanish American War, serving in the Phillipines.
I have his discharge papers indicating he served as a "Musician". I think we gave Jim a couple of his swords many years ago. It's interesting to note that according to the census of 1920, he worked as a "snapper" at the glass factory. He lived at 327 Bayou St. for over 60 years.

Hi all:
My dad served in WWll on the USS Vincennes CL-64 thoughout the south Pacific. He attended reunions for many years and his Navy buddies and experiences changed his life and never left him. He passed 15 years ago. I recently discovered ALL his letters to his family and letters from his family to him over the 3 years he was at sea, and his journal as well as many pictures. Is there any way I can find out who is still alive from his ship and contact anyone who knew him? Benny Giambrone from CL-64.
Please contact me at dgingram88@aol/com. I would love to share stories. Maybe the museum would be interested in my incredible treasure for an exhibit. You guys out there, please come forward! Thanks, Donna Giambrone Ingram

Dear Indiana Military Museum,
Are you interested in a WWII reenactor? When do you have activities?
Thanks,

I will be passing through Vincennes on April 6th and would very much like to visit your museum. Will you be open on this date and if so what
are your hours of operation.
Thank You,
Darrell Arnold

One of my children is very interested in military history, so finding this website is wonderful! We live just south of Indianapolis and I hope to bring my kids down this summer to the museum and also to visit the other sites listed!

Your website is well done. Do you have a projected opening date for the new museum?

Hello,
I liked the website. My cousin is Clay Decker. I had the honor of being a dressed up German POW in a parade in the 1970's forgot which year. My cousin Eric and I had a blast but the uniforms are wool and very uncomfortable !!
Take Care.

I was curious about my Uncle Milton Harding and was checking on military sites about the Battle of The Bulge and found they were preparing on parchment paper a certificate stating service during that particular battle and here I am at this site. Looks like a great museum and I will visit it this summer on my way to a reunion with the 82nd Engineer Battalion in N.C.

wanting to research Elias Daily. Enclisted from southern Indiana and reenlisted in Kentucky.

Heidi and I are reired and living in Huntsville, AL. I visited the Veterans Museum in Huntsville today and was referred to you. I collected some intersting artifacts during my Army career mostly in Germany. My interest is to donate these items to a museum that will not sell or trade them. I will be driving through Vincenns on Thursday, 24 Dec 09, and will stop.

I need help with a British Alvis Stalwart. Could you steer me in some direction for manuals, parts, information? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am a Marine who served from 04-06 and I have just visited the museum and am absolutely humbled by those who keep this museum going, This museum is a standing monument for those who gave the greatest gift of all, freedom. Thank you all very much for your commitment to this great project.

I BELIEVE THIS IS THE MUSEUM THAT MY UNCLE, ERNEST FOWLER, WAS A DOCENT. HE WAS WITH THE 101ST AIRBORNE. PLEASE CONFIRM THAT I HAVE THE RIGHT MUSEUM AS I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT IT. I HAVE LIVED MOST OF MY LIFE IN CALIFORNIA AND JUST RECENTLY RETIRED BACK TO MY HOME TOWN OF ALBION, IL.
THANK YOU.

We stumbled across the museum while on a tank hunt through Indiana. It was closed but the person working there allowed us to tour the outside displays. What a terrific place. Everything had just been repainted and looked awesome. I am planning a trip back. Thanks

Great place for young people to learn and know that our freedom is not free. That the men and their equipment and their spirit is what kept us free. I hope that the new museum is can be built soon and that it blessed with what finances it needs to succeed . I was a Marine during the Cold War and I notice you even have some stuff from that era. Keep up the good work !
