I was a Launch Crew member on the Martin Mace (CGM-13B) on Okinawa from 1963 to 1965. I am interested in progress on the "B" Bird exhibit, if any. It was one of the training Birds at Orlando AFB.

Hi!
i
I visited your museum as I was working at Edwardsport power plant and really enjoyed the examples that you have on display. I just wanted to thank you again for the very educational experience I had there as I am a fellow collector. You are very nice people and it's great to run into others that have the same interest to preserve the history of the MV world as we know. Thanks again and I am looking forward to seeing your new location! I will make time to come and visit again! Again, thank you and beautiful work on your examples!

Indiana Military Museum volunteers & board members,
I was fortunate today to have a tour by Jim Osborne. He gave a personal tour to Mike & Bill Evans and myself for about 2 hours on a cold Sunday afternoon. I am retired Navy with 24 years of service. My father served as a Navy officer in WW2 on an LST that was in the battle of Okinawa. Many of my uncles were in WW2. I lost one uncle in the battle of the bulge. My grandfather and his sister were in WW1. This sister was a nurse in France in WW1 and probably saw the French WW1 ambulance and OR that you have.
Your museum will soon move to its new location near the George Rogers Clark Memorial. This will give you more exposure to the public eye. It is unbelievable how many items of warfare you have in storage and display. The items are in excellent shape and each tell a unique story of our wars. The glass cases have some unique heritage to the Vincennes people that makes it nostalgic for citizens of Knox County
Your whole project is a labor of love. All the volunteers and board members make this a super project. The visual and 3D depiction of the items say so much more than a book or a photograph. I hope to make the September 2011 event which will be the last one at your present home. Each and every volunteer makes this project better each day. I have seen many war museums and I am very impressed with yours!!!!
I have reviewed your web site. It is also superb!! You have excellent movies of WW2 events. The photos of items in your museum are of excellent quality.
Thank you for all your work and dedication to history!!

I was born & raised in Vincennes, but my dad, Tom Dodson was originally from Patoka in Gibson County.
His father, Art Dodson, served in the Phillipines during WWII while his mother, Margaret Dodson, built P-47s @ Republic Aviation in Evansville. Ive been looking thru newsletters grandma kept from the time she worked there & grandpas memoribilia. She has also mentioned a traction line that used to run from Vincennes to Evansville for wartime commuters. Her brother, Kenny White, served in the navy as a cook on an LST.
American morale during this time period is just fascinating to me...looking fwd to seeing the new museum! ![]()
My dad was James Klibbe and he served in WWII in the 51st Troop Wing Carrier Division in Italy, North Africa and Sicily. He was also cousin of Frank Klibbe who flew "Little Chief" They grew up together in Anderson, Indiana and were close all their lives. My dad passed away in 2003.
Just found another great picture.

I'm looking for pictures of my father who was a pilot ( OS2U Float Plane )and served on the USS Vincennes CL64 during WW2
I know there was a ship photographer on the USS Vincennes CL64
be cause saw pictures of my father in the cockpit of his plane
taken just befor he was catapolted off ( B&W 8 x 10 ) when I was little.
The photo is long gone along with another of him after he was
plucked from the see after his plane sank after landing in the ocean
when he returned to the ship.
Please let me know if you have any ideas on how I can access the ships arcives of photos.
Sincerely
Tim
I would check with the National Archives in Washington, DC. They have catalouged much of the documents and photos from WWII. Let me know if you need help finding a contact person there. I know it can at times be difficult to get through to a government agency.

My great uncle was Walter Bedell Smith. He was Ike's chief of staff at SHAEF headquarters during WW II. He earned his 4th star after the war, and served as head of the CIA and ambassador to Moscow.

It was a great event, thank you for inviting me to be Rosie.
Sincerely,
Angie Timan

My grandfather, William E. Hurst, was a bugler in the Spanish American War, serving in the Phillipines.
I have his discharge papers indicating he served as a "Musician". I think we gave Jim a couple of his swords many years ago. It's interesting to note that according to the census of 1920, he worked as a "snapper" at the glass factory. He lived at 327 Bayou St. for over 60 years.

Hi all:
My dad served in WWll on the USS Vincennes CL-64 thoughout the south Pacific. He attended reunions for many years and his Navy buddies and experiences changed his life and never left him. He passed 15 years ago. I recently discovered ALL his letters to his family and letters from his family to him over the 3 years he was at sea, and his journal as well as many pictures. Is there any way I can find out who is still alive from his ship and contact anyone who knew him? Benny Giambrone from CL-64.
Please contact me at dgingram88@aol/com. I would love to share stories. Maybe the museum would be interested in my incredible treasure for an exhibit. You guys out there, please come forward! Thanks, Donna Giambrone Ingram

Dear Indiana Military Museum,
Are you interested in a WWII reenactor? When do you have activities?
Thanks,

I will be passing through Vincennes on April 6th and would very much like to visit your museum. Will you be open on this date and if so what
are your hours of operation.
Thank You,
Darrell Arnold

One of my children is very interested in military history, so finding this website is wonderful! We live just south of Indianapolis and I hope to bring my kids down this summer to the museum and also to visit the other sites listed!
