It was called the Type 95 and it replaced the type 89. Only 2,093 were built and they served Japan until surrender in 1945. Like the US Stuart light tank (M-2, M-3, M-5)it rapidly became obsolete as the needs of the war created new technology. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries had the contract to produce this tank with units subcontracted to Sagami Arsenal, Hitachi Industries and other subcontractors. http://www.indianamilitarymuseum.org/apps/photos/photo?photoID=4221026 4221026 Type 95 Light Tank (Ha-Go) Early units had the 110hp(82kW) Mitsubishi Diesel engine with a top speed of 25 mph (40km/h). Later units had the Mitsubishi NVD 6120 that produced 120 hp ( 89.5 kW). It is 4.38 m long, 2.06 m wide and 2.18 m tall. Armor is 6-12 mm. http://www.indianamilitarymuseum.org/apps/photos/photo?photoID=4221210 4221210 Type 95 Light Tank (Ha-Go) It weights about 7.4 tons with a crew of three; A commander/ gunner, a mechanic/ machine gunner, and a driver. The commander loaded and trained the 37mm Type 94 main battery. He also had a secondary battery of a 7.7mm Type 97machine gun fired out the rear of the turret. The mechanic/ gunner had a 7.7 mm Type 97 machine gun fired from a flexible mount in the forward hull. The turret would only rotate in a 45 degree arc requiring the 7.7 mm in the rear of the turret to provide some but highly inadequate protection to the rear. http://www.indianamilitarymuseum.org/apps/photos/photo?photoID=4690421 4690421 M3A1 Stuart Light Tank Production on a large scale began on the M3A1 in July of 1942. Some differences from the preceding M3 are internal intercom , removal of the two 30 cal machine guns on each side of the hull facing forward, and a welded hull. The British named the Lend Leased tank after the Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart. The troops also called it the "Honey". M3 light tanks orginally began production by Americn Car & Foundary in March of Berwick, Pennsylvania in 1941 following the M2A4 already in production there since May 1940. http://www.indianamilitarymuseum.org/apps/photos/photo?photoID=4690396 4690396 M-5 Stuart Light Tank Yhe M-5 Stuart Lilght Tank is an up graded version of its predessor the M-3.
