On September 6, 2008 the Indiana Military Museum hosted its first World War II re enactment. It was titled " A Salute to WW II, A Living History Event." Re enactors from throughout the region represented various combat units from the WW II period with encampments, tents, equipment, uniforms, weapons and insignia. WW II tanks, artillery, half tracks, trucks, jeeps and aircraft from the Musuem's inventory were on out door display with vehicles from private collectors present including the award winning and rare Cushman Airborne Scooter. The Tri County Aero Radio Control Club provided a static exhibit with dozens of replica flyable WW II aircraft. There was also a fly over of two WW II AT-6 Texans in formation. This will be an annual event. Admission was free to all of the out side exhibits with the normal $3.00 admission for the indoor displays. WW II Veterans and Musuem Members were free. There were also vendors present to supply the crowd with various types of militaria including scale model kits and books. There was also a food vendor that served great Pork Tenderloins and Hamburgers.
